Good Evening Meadow Indians.  There are 6 items that I need to make you aware of this evening.   1.  The Meadow Athletic Association is holding a community meeting Monday, February 6 at 7:00 pm in the school gym.  The MAA has been in existence for over 40 years and it is a tradition that needs to continue into the future indefinitely.  This meeting is vital for the long term planning and future of the organization.  WE need the community's input and support so we encourage everyone in the Meadow Community and Meadow School to attend.  Whether your children have already aged out, your child is still too young to play or especially if they are currently participating, we need you to attend this meeting.  The success of the MAA is success for the kids of the Meadow Community.  Please spread the word to all of your friends and neighbors and join us Monday.  2.  Yearbooks will go on sale Monday, February 6.  The sale will end March 30th.  The cost of the yearbook will be $35.  You must pay by check or money order and make them payable to Herff Jones Yearbook Company.  Please write your child's first and last name on the memo line before sending to child's homeroom teacher.  3.  8th grade students will be bringing home Transition to 9th grade letters on gold paper.  Please make sure you ask your child to see this letter.  4.  We have multiple pairs of glasses in our front office that have lost their owners.  If your child is missing a pair of glasses, please check in with the front office.  5.  Our first awards ceremony will be held Thursday, February 9 with K-2 at 8:45, 3-5 at 9:30, and 6-8 at 10:15.  If your child is receiving an award, you will receive an invitation by the end of the week.  Lastly, 6.  We are having difficulty with students using cell phones throughout the school day for non-instructional purposes.  We have shared with them that it needs to be put away and turned off.  The first time a student has their phone out, it will be held in our safe until the end of the day.  The student may get it before going home.  The second or concurrent occurrences will result in the parents picking the cell phone up from school.  If you need to reach your child, please call the front office at 919-894-4226 and we will assist in any way that we can.  Please don't hesitate to call if you have any questions.  Have a great evening.

Good Evening Meadow Indians!

We are excited to have the opportunity to offer free lunch for all students through November 11, 2016.  With this opportunity come a few guidelines that I wanted to make you aware of.  In order for the meal to be considered reimbursable, students must get three things from three different food groups.  One choice must be a fruit or vegetable.  If a student wants extra meat, vegetables, or fruits, chips, ice cream, or a cookie, these items will cost extra.

Also, I apologize for the late notice, but because of a number of factors, Meadow has decided to hold awards ceremonies only at the end of each semester.  They will be held on February 9, 2017 and June 6, 2017.  K-2 Awards will begin at 8:45, 3-5 at 9:30, and 6-8 at 10:15.  We will go in ascending order during each ceremony.  We feel that this is the best decision for Meadow, at this time, because of our transition into Standards Based Grading for Grades K-3, days of instruction missed due to Hurricane Matthew, and additional time needed to provide a range of appropriate awards for our students.  We appreciate your understanding and look forward to our first celebration in February.

One final reminder is about our Early Dismissal on Tuesday, November 8.  Students will still be dismissed at 1:15 pm on November 8.  Students will also receive their report cards on November 8.

As we begin a new nine weeks, we are excited to see our students continue to grow!  Have a wonderful evening.

Good Evening,

We have a lot going on at Meadow School this week and I don't want anyone to miss out.  Tomorrow night, our Football team will be playing against Four Oaks Middle School at SJHS at 6:59.  Come support them as they see what it feels like to play under the lights!  Also, on Wednesday, we will have our Pre-K through Grade 5 pictures with Grades 6-8 taking their pictures on Thursday.  Football and Cheerleading will be taking sports pictures on Wednesday afternoon also.  On Friday, we will have our AIG Meeting for parents with students in the AIG program in grades 4-8 at 5:00 pm and our Fall Festival will kick off at  5:30 pm.  We hope everyone will come and join us Friday night.  On November 4, Band will have their Pepsi pickup in front of the school and Report Cards will still go home on November 8.

Have a great night!

Good Evening Meadow Indians.

Beginning tomorrow, Monday, October 24 for the remainder of this school year, we will be adding 10 minutes to our school day to make up the time missed from school due to Hurricane Matthew.  K-4 students will be dismissed at 3:30 with 5-8 students dismissing at 3:40.  This will not affect our car rider processes, it will simply allow for the younger students to get in place before releasing the older students.  Buses should arrive at your afternoon bus stop about 10 minutes later than normal.  Also, October 31 has now become a regular school day instead of a Teacher Workday to make up for school cancelation on Monday, October 17.  We are all looking forward to a normal week at school!  Have a great night!

Good Evening Meadow Community.  We have been through a very trying week and will continue to experience struggles over the next few months.  In an effort to return to school and a sense of normalcy, we will be returning to school on Tuesday, October 18 with a two hour delay.  Because our area has suffered so much damage, it is very important that we meet face-to-face to discuss the changes that will need to take place in order for us to return.  Please plan to meet at Meadow School Monday, October 17, at 6:30 pm to learn about changes to bus routes, school schedules, and to ask any questions that you may have.  While we are together, we will also discuss the business that we would have discussed this past Tuesday night at the Open House and PTO Meeting.  The meeting will last approximately one hour with an opportunity for you to ask questions about your specific situation.  I look forward to seeing you all Monday evening.
