You have probably noticed that your children have brought home paper sneakers and may be asking for donations. As our one big fundraiser to help our community, Meadow has decided to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Each year, 40,000 people are diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and 5 million people in the US are expected to have Type 1 Diabetes by 2050. Now is the time to act! Any amount of money raised will help fund research toward a possible cure. Please help your child collect donations in their envelope and write donor names on the paper sneakers. They will turn them all in on Friday, April 7th and enjoy a Walk for a Cure as they celebrate how they have helped!
Also, at the end of the third nine weeks, students with 4 or more absences received a waiver form. Those forms were due back today! In order for your child to receive the grades they have earned, we need these forms signed and returned ASAP.
Good Evening Meadow Indians!I hope that everyone will come out and join us tomorrow evening, March 28 at 6:30 pm, for our March Madness STEM Night. Everyone will have the opportunity to learn through play! Come on in at 5:00 pm and browse around our Book Fair Family Night. We have some great new titles that students are extremely excited about. Lastly, this Thursday ends our third quarter and this Friday, March 31 is a Teacher Workday. We will not have school on Friday. However, if you or someone you know has a child that will be starting Kindergarten in the fall, March 31 is also our Kindergarten Registration day. Come out from 8-6 to get your child registered for Kindergarten. I hope everyone has a wonderful evening!
Good Evening Meadow Indians! We have a busy couple of weeks ahead of us and I don't want anyone to miss out on all of the wonderful opportunities. First, THANK YOU for helping us successfully implement a new car rider process. To continue to be as safe and efficient as possible, please make sure that your car rider name is visible and that your car is in park while students are loading. Also, we love feedback! Please take a few moments to complete the AdvancEd Parent Survey. You can find the link on our school webpage, Facebook, or Twitter. The deadline to complete the survey is March 24. 8th grade parents, please make sure you send in pictures of your children for our end of year slide show. You should have received information about the types of pictures needed. This coming week we have the following: MAA Board Elections on Monday, March 20 at 7 pm, Hispanic Family Night on Tuesday, March 21 at 6 pm in the Media Center (childcare will be provided), Spring Pictures for Pre-K-Grade 4, Athletics, and Middle School Battle of the Books Students on March 23 and Spring Pictures for Grades 5-8 on March 24. Our Book Fair also starts on March 23 and will run through March 30. Yearbooks will remain on sale through March 30. We are only able to take checks for yearbooks this year and they need to be made out to Herff Jones. The following week we will have our March Madness STEM Night on Tuesday, March 28 and have a Teacher Workday on March 31. Kindergarten Registration will also be held on March 31. This is a lot of information so I will make sure that it is also shared on our school webpage under Admin/ConnectEd Messages, Facebook, and Twitter. We look forward to your participation in these opportunities for our students and their families. Have a wonderful evening.
Good Evening Meadow Indians. There are 6 items that I need to make you aware of this evening. 1. The Meadow Athletic Association is holding a community meeting Monday, February 6 at 7:00 pm in the school gym. The MAA has been in existence for over 40 years and it is a tradition that needs to continue into the future indefinitely. This meeting is vital for the long term planning and future of the organization. WE need the community's input and support so we encourage everyone in the Meadow Community and Meadow School to attend. Whether your children have already aged out, your child is still too young to play or especially if they are currently participating, we need you to attend this meeting. The success of the MAA is success for the kids of the Meadow Community. Please spread the word to all of your friends and neighbors and join us Monday. 2. Yearbooks will go on sale Monday, February 6. The sale will end March 30th. The cost of the yearbook will be $35. You must pay by check or money order and make them payable to Herff Jones Yearbook Company. Please write your child's first and last name on the memo line before sending to child's homeroom teacher. 3. 8th grade students will be bringing home Transition to 9th grade letters on gold paper. Please make sure you ask your child to see this letter. 4. We have multiple pairs of glasses in our front office that have lost their owners. If your child is missing a pair of glasses, please check in with the front office. 5. Our first awards ceremony will be held Thursday, February 9 with K-2 at 8:45, 3-5 at 9:30, and 6-8 at 10:15. If your child is receiving an award, you will receive an invitation by the end of the week. Lastly, 6. We are having difficulty with students using cell phones throughout the school day for non-instructional purposes. We have shared with them that it needs to be put away and turned off. The first time a student has their phone out, it will be held in our safe until the end of the day. The student may get it before going home. The second or concurrent occurrences will result in the parents picking the cell phone up from school. If you need to reach your child, please call the front office at 919-894-4226 and we will assist in any way that we can. Please don't hesitate to call if you have any questions. Have a great evening.
Good Evening Meadow Indians!
We are excited to have the opportunity to offer free lunch for all students through November 11, 2016. With this opportunity come a few guidelines that I wanted to make you aware of. In order for the meal to be considered reimbursable, students must get three things from three different food groups. One choice must be a fruit or vegetable. If a student wants extra meat, vegetables, or fruits, chips, ice cream, or a cookie, these items will cost extra.
Also, I apologize for the late notice, but because of a number of factors, Meadow has decided to hold awards ceremonies only at the end of each semester. They will be held on February 9, 2017 and June 6, 2017. K-2 Awards will begin at 8:45, 3-5 at 9:30, and 6-8 at 10:15. We will go in ascending order during each ceremony. We feel that this is the best decision for Meadow, at this time, because of our transition into Standards Based Grading for Grades K-3, days of instruction missed due to Hurricane Matthew, and additional time needed to provide a range of appropriate awards for our students. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to our first celebration in February.
One final reminder is about our Early Dismissal on Tuesday, November 8. Students will still be dismissed at 1:15 pm on November 8. Students will also receive their report cards on November 8.
As we begin a new nine weeks, we are excited to see our students continue to grow! Have a wonderful evening.
